Overview

With music files played on PCs and Macs or from services like Spotify, Google Play, Apple Music and Tidal, the output of the computer can prove to be a bottleneck that limits the ability to deliver sufficient power and quality to a set of audiophile-grade headphones.

No longer: A new bundle offered by Sennheiser brings together the HD 650, Sennheiser’s top-of-the-range, open, dynamic headphones, with the Apogee Groove - a USB DAC and headphone amp. This combination lets the PC or Mac user enjoy the full dynamic range and ultra-low distortion levels of one of Sennheiser’s all time great headphones.

With its high impedance of 300Ω, the HD 650 requires more power than can usually be provided by a PC/Mac, but the Apogee Groove amp increases the output signal to do full justice to the capabilities of the HD 650. Crafted with handpicked components, special acoustic materials and exceptional engineering, the HD 650 are an audiophile's dream – delivering reference-class fidelity and a balanced sound with crisp bass, excellent mid frequency response and a gentle, pleasantly natural treble.

In the new bundle, Sennheiser’s high-end audio expertise is perfectly complemented by Apogee’s 30-year pedigree as an innovator and industry leader in digital audio recording. The world’s most successful artists, producers and audio engineers rely on Apogee products to capture GRAMMY winning performances.

Groove’s output provides ample power at any impedance for a precise stereo image, punchy bass and stunningly clear high hats. Its Constant Current Drive™ technology delivers a smooth frequency response with any headphones - with Apogee recommending Sennheiser headphones to the discerning listener. When paired with the benchmark-setting HD 650, exceptional performance is assured. Groove also features Apogee's Quad Sum DAC technology which utilizes 4 DACs per channel to deliver the highest dynamic range and lowest distortion.Simply connect the Apogee Groove to a computer’s USB port and the HD 650 to its audio output and enjoy a new standard in sound.

FAQ

  • What amplifiers are recommended for Sennheiser headphones?

Other than recommending the Sennheiser HDVD 800 and HDVA 600 amplifiers for our high end audiophile headphones we do not provide amplifier recommendations because there are simply too many factors (including cost, features, etc) that need to be accounted for when choosing an amplifier.

For amplifier recommendations Sennheiser suggests that our customers check out this headphone forum (www.head-fi.org) where the moderators and member test a variety of different amplifiers of varying costs and features and can provide feedback on how the different amplifiers perform under different circumstances.
