Audio quality is more important than you might think.
It’s commonly known in today’s world of digital media that it’s easier to watch content with poor video quality than it is to watch content with poor audio quality. That’s because audio is what deliver’s the message—audio is what tells the story. If your video has poor audio quality, your audience is more likely to swipe away because they can’t hear what you’re saying clearly. What’s more, the vast majority of Social Media content is viewed on a mobile device that renders anything higher than 720p nearly indistinguishable. This means that even lower resolution content on a small screen looks fairly decent. Unfortunately, viewing on a small screen doesn’t help your audio the same way it does your video. That’s why it’s important to make sure your voice is present and defined.

Best on camera shotgun
I have tried several on camera shotguns, from Rode to Azden and others. All of the mics that were camera powered (so you are never worried about whether the mic has power, vs separate batteries for the mic) had much lower output levels. The camera preamps were max'd to get acceptable levels on any of my Canons (5DMk4, 7DMk2, SL3, M200) or Lumix cameras. The Sennheiser has much higher output levels, so preamp gains would be closers to 60%.

Best Mic for Camera
I like the design as well, it has the same quality I've come to expect from Sennheiser. This mic came out at the perfect time when I was shopping for a mic for my Mirrorless camera and was able to order and get it on time. Great value for money.
